Flutuantes da Feira: Galeria Luisa Strina

Marepe’s project consists of a series of gouache on photographs that take the free fairs as theme. The works, entitled “Flutuantes da Feira” [Fair’s Floaters] (2004), depart from images of the fair that takes place in the center of the city of Santo Antonio de Jesus. The artist paints “soap bubbles” on the photographs, using white gouache. These bubbles are like connecting characters between the images, as well as acting as a camera for a movie storyboard, recording scenes and situations and giving rhythm to the strangeness of the environment.
