Ana Prata’s pictorial research merges modernist influences with elements of everyday life. From large-scale works to small formats, her paintings emerge first and foremost from her engagement with material and the practical experience of the studio. Exploring interiority and intimacy, Prata establishes her practice as an exercise in critical thinking. By appropriating established art-historical genres, her gaze remains attuned to the new meanings her paintings can assume, while she meticulously crafts a pictorial vocabulary that defies expectations.
